We welcome you to a unique vacation home in Dalarna!

We are now accepting bookings for the fall/winter season at Norhyttan! Ideal place for recreation, fishing, wintersports, golf in the beautiful surroundings of Dalarna or mushroom and berry picking!

In the foot steps of the great Swedish poet and writer Dan Andersson lies Norhyttan. A beautiful and romantic area, often called "the cradle of culture", situated in the southern part of Dalarna (near Ludvika). This 17th century previous farming estate has been completely renovated to meet 21st century standards and design, while still embracing it's cultural importance. In comparison to mass produced cottage villages, Norhyttan is a genuine Swedish countryside district with houses and farms which was built several hundred years ago.

The estate Norhyttan 38 exceeds no less than 22 acres (9 hectares) of well kept beautiful seaside gardens and "mysterious" woods. The area is rich in animal life and fishing is a very popular pastime. Here you have the possiblity of recharging your batteries, excercise, go skiing (close proximity to popular winter resort SÄFSEN), play golf at many of Swedens most beautiful golf courses (such as e.g. HAGGE GK), go mushroom- and berry-picking, visit the old copper mines of Falun, spend your time on our little pier - glanzing at the beautiful sunset with a glass of wine in your hand, read a book on the veranda while enjoying the serenity, enjoy a traditional wooden sauna or perhaps take dip in our fire-heated jacuzzi! It is simply easy to fall in love with lovely Norhyttan!.

Wireless Internet is always provided free of charge at Norhyttan!

All our accomodation is rented either weekly, long weekends or montly. Or, if you are a company leader, why not rent one of the houses on a long term basis and offer your personnel a unique recreational holiday, or rent our conference facilities for an unforgivable conference in breathtaking surroundings. Area information:

Norhyttan is an area north west of Ludvika in the southern part of Dalarna. Although no mines have been active at Norhyttan for well over 70 years, it is still known for it's mining activities since early 17th century. Slaktar Johans gård (Butcher Johans Farm), was in it's heydays, before being divided up into smaller pieces, one of the largest farms in southern Dalarna. This farm is now converted into Norhyttan Recreation.

The name Norhyttan is derived from the mining hut ("hyttan" in Swedish) which was situated at the inlet of the lake Noren (Noren+hyttan=Norhyttan). The village was at the time called Mageråsen. Ruins of the mining hut still exists and is nowadays a protected building under Swedish law. In this cradle of culture there are many tourist attractions and possible excursions:

Grangärde church and folk museum, Bastbergets mountain pasture, Dan Anderssons Luossa cottage, Bränntjärrs croft, Eco-museum Begslagen, Cassels donation, the aquarium, Locomotive and Car museum in Grängesberg, Dan Andersson museum, Klenshyttan mining hut and Flogbergets metal mines.
